Inside The Makeup Bags of The Beauties Tribe : Part 1

A little peek on what’s inside the makeup bags of Léa, Anne, Lucia and Gabriella.

We’re starting a new series here on Beauties; one where our community can get to truly explore the team’s personal beauty and lifestyle regimens.

We decided to start with our on-the-go makeup bags… because who doesn’t like taking a peek into their friend's beauty pouch?

We also made sure to include something we’d like to have in our bags, but haven’t had the chance to try yet.

Let’s dig in…

You're a makeup artist? But you don't wear makeup? I often surprise people when I tell them that I am a professional makeup artist because I don't wear much makeup on myself. And my makeup bag reflects that. It’s quite simple, but I often have to try new products so it always ends up being well filled. I bring this bag when I go to work and have to change for a media event or dinner with friends. I like to have a mix of natural products and traditional brands. My mantra is less is more... I love when makeup is so well applied that no one can really put their finger on what has been done. So whether I'm wearing makeup or not, people see me and not my makeup.

Face

I recently discovered Charlotte Tilbury's Brightening Youth Glow that I apply before my foundation if I feel dull, followed by my favourite foundation of all time Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk, with its dewy finish and medium coverage. I like to apply it with my fingers and dab my damp sponge over it. My best friend is the Clé de Peau Corrector that I apply with my finger on my dark circles and pimples. I have a pink cream blush that I put on my cheekbones and eyelids. I always set my concealer and my T-zone with the Clove + Hallow Pressed Mineral Foundation, and add a little Chanel Bronzing Powder around my face (in the shape of the number 8). But I like it all to be almost unnoticeable. One product I'd love to try is the Atmosphere Soft Focus Liquid Foundation from Vapour. I've been looking for an organic foundation that's as good as the Armani, so I have high hopes!

Eyes

I curl my lashes but not too much, so that they keep a natural shape. During the day, I like ILIA's Brown Mascara and for the evening it varies... I use several black mascaras at the same time! For the eyebrows, a tinted eyebrow mascara is enough to enhance my look. If I want to add intensity to my eyes, I use a large brown or taupe eye pencil. I have the one from Makeup Forever but I also love the ones from Glo Skin Beauty.

Lips

I always have a lip moisturizer on me because I can't stand having dry or chapped lips. I have tried many and my favourite so far is the Apothecary Province. “

I’m on the natural side when it comes to daily makeup (pretty much like the rest of the Beauties Tribe... #YourVibeAttractsYourVibe). I love a fresh glowy look that won’t smudge through my long days of university classes, work, sports and social activities (hello waterproof mascara). I aaalways carry this survival pouch with me to apply makeup between classes or even in my car before an event if I didn’t had time in the morning.

Face

I love my basics! My essential products almost never change... I always use the Bare Minerals tinted gel cream with my fingers. The gel like formula is super light and perfect for my acne prone skin. My go-to concealer is the Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear from Laura Mercier, which I apply my fingers as well. I used to live for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer until this one stole the #1 spot. Its pretty heavy coverage but still feels light and blends beautifully with my skin.

Eyes

To comb my brows, I use the boy brow from Glossier. I also like to dab Glossier’s Haloscope Highlight on my cheekbones and the tip of my nose to get a veeeery natural highlight (you can buy this combo and save $). Some days I don’t wear do anything to my lashes, but when I do, I'll curl with this gold bad boy from Sephora (worth the 10$ extra from the eyelash curlers at the pharmacy), and my go-to mascara is the Falsies from Maybelline.

Lips

I always have lip balm on me. I’m not really committed to one in particular (I tend to take the closest one in my bathroom or my purse lol), but I really like the Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1.

Fragrance

I take my Beach Walk Roller Ball Perfume from Maison Margiela, to use whenever needed on my neck and wrists.

I rarely wear makeup because I'm lazy, but when I do, I keep it very natural. I love it though…when I am wearing makeup I feel like I can conquer anything! My mom gave me this makeup bag, ok ok I borrowed it, ok I just took it. But now that I am so far away from her, this is the one thing that I see every single day and brings me closer to her, reminding me of the times when she used to do my makeup for my first dance festivals when I was 7 or 8 years old.

Face

I always start by spraying some Kiehl's Damage-Protecting Toning Mist , it is one of those things that I copied from my mom’s routine but never fully understood what it does. For some colour, I often have with me the Bare Minerals Matte Bronzer for my cheeks and eyelids, and then I illuminate my cheekbones and nose with the Hocus Pocus Illuminator from Soap&Glory.

Eyes

I shape my eyebrows with Goof Proof Brow Pencil from Benefit Cosmetics and brush them with some coloured Brow Gel from Maybelline. I use Shu Uemura curler for my lashes (my go-to day and night) and the Better Than Sex mascara from Too Faced.

Lips

Soon, I hope to be changing all the items on my makeup bag to non-cruelty and natural products like those from the brand Clove+Hallow. Their lipsticks are amazing!

Fragrance

I always finish with some Coco Mademoiselle from Chanel!

This little bag goes around with me when I know I have plans after work, have a long day where I’ll be needing touchups, or when I simply want it in case of any surprises. Its contents change whenever I find a new favourite or just want variety. I sometimes end up with too many lip colours and need to empty it out… But in general, this is what I carry.

Face

I always have my favourite NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, for any blemishes or hangover eye bags. For powder, I carry the Chanel Mat Lumière, in case I need some coverage rather than just mattifying. I also carry the Becca Lowlight/Highlight Perfecting Palette since it has both a cream contour and highlighter, so I’m set if I’m in need of either (usually highlighter).

Lips

For lips, I tend to carry 1 or 2 nudes, and 1 red. Right now, this is Huda Beauty’s Trendsetter and a travel size of Kat Von D’s Malice.

Extra

Finally, I always have a clip, a nail file, and a lovely hand cream. Not pictured: Gum! Always some mint gum.

I’ve never found myself in need of any other beauty products when I’m out of the house, so this bag usually covers me in any situation. One product I’d love to add that I haven’t had the chance of trying yet are the Glossier Boy Brows. I usually don’t do anything/very little to my brows so I’m eager to try a minimal product like the Boy Brow!
